Corporate History

The company group Beutlhauser, founded by Carl Beutlhauser in the year 1898, can look back on a corporate history of 110 years today. Beutlhauser, originally established as a hardware shop in Pfarrkirchen in the Rottal, developed, under the management of Karl Burgstaller, the son-in-law of Carl Beutlhauser, into one of the leading companies for agricultural machinery in Lower Bavaria and Upper Austria, with company headquarters in Passau.

In the middle of the sixties, the company carried out an important switch of strategy: breaking with agricultural machinery and getting in the construction machinery trading and service business, which has meanwhile become the largest business branch of the group.

The over 40-year-long partnership with Liebherr, the leading construction machinery manufacturer in Europe, was the guarantee for the healthy expansion of the company, especially in the period when the Berlin Wall fell too.

At the beginning of the nineties, the takeover of the Linde forklift manufacturer’s agency in Dresden was the start of the implementation of the strategy of establishing further branches of business. Here, the objective was to reduce dependence from construction industry which is subject to strong cyclical variations. In 1998, we got into the municipal vehicle and machinery business with the takeover of the Unimog general agency for Upper Franconia and the major part of Thuringia.

The takeover of the old-established company Bassewitz in the year 2003 completed the implementation of the strategy of establishing three independent branches of business of almost the same size.

We regard ourselves as specialists for the trading with, renting out and

servicing of high-quality investment goods. In this connection, we offer our customers maximum product quality and cooperation with partners who have a leading position in their fields in all three branches of business.

As a family business managed by the fourth generation now, Beutlhauser presents itself today as a financially strong, efficient and customer-oriented company on which our customers and suppliers can fully rely today and tomorrow.
